While I have yet to make my first pilgrimage to Fraser’s Thimble Farms on Salt Springs Island in British Columbia, I am very familiar with their annual catalogue. Similar in breadth of selection and prose to Lost Horizons infamous and equally favoured tome, it is a welcome breath of fresh air in what is typically a rather cold and morose month of January.
I’ve been through the online catalogue once, having spent close to an hour and a half dissecting it line by line, page by page, and have already started my initial list of MUST HAVES for 2012. For the record there are twenty six plants that have left me nothing less than besotted! Being that we’re all such good friends, I thought I might share a few….
Epimedium grandiflorum var. thunbergianum ‘Tama No Genpei’
Epimedium grandiflorum ‘Dark Beauty’
One might, after viewing these sublime selections, be led to believe that I’m narrowing my focus. One might be led to believe such a thing. One might also be led to believe that I am compiling HAVE list in ALPHABETICAL order? What should one believe?
