A Fresh Start

DSC_0398

‘…When a monastery bell rings in the mountains, it rings from Everywhere: from the crowns of pines and their trunks, from the stones, from the stream at our feet and from distant peaks, from every leaf and needle, from sun and moon, from mist and ink-wash clouds, from stars and the black spaces between them. Once rung, it goes on ringing. Who knows when it ends?’

2013 promises fresh starts and new beginnings for me. I have embarked upon a journey of self awareness and discovery. I am reading and learning about the poets Matsuo Basho and Yosa Buson, and in doing so have opened my mind and heart to the possible roles that spirituality might play in my life. It is all very new to me. All very exciting. In reaching this new level of self awareness, there have also been other changes in my life, including my career. I am grateful for the opportunity that I have been given over the past four years, but it is time for me to move on. Plants will always play an integral part of my life, and as such I will be continuing my lifelong quest into their study and cultivation.

The quote used in this post is from the book, ‘A Message for the Emperor,’ by Mark Frutkin, which helped to open my eyes to the power of meditation, and more importantly, to the role that artistic passion plays in the everyday world how it can also act as a pathway towards inner happiness! I am eager to embark upon this, my next life journey!

All the best on your new adventure Barry. It's true, when you're passionate about something there is a sense of peace and happiness that envelopes your soul. You have a book in you, make the time to see it through. I can't wait !
