‘In the Bleak Midwinter…..’

DSC_0257

In the Bleak midwinter, frosty wind made moan, Earth stood hard as iron., water like a stone; Snow had fallen snow on snow, snow on snow, In the Bleak Midwinter, long long ago.

My favourite verse describing winter. We have been bamboozled with snow – close to six inches have fallen in the past twenty four hours with more to come – a sign that perhaps we are returning to the ‘traditional Canadian winters’ of years gone by? Fingers crossed! Spent an enjoyable evening putting up the tree – another Abies concolor – and assisting with the decorating. I love the citrus infused aroma that pervades the air while it is up.

DSC_0242 DSC_0240 I snagged an assortment of wonderful glass ornaments at work, in silver, white and of course, my personal favourite, blue in order to create an icy, shimmering effect. Combined with the newest lights – tiny clear nubs that are barely visible to the naked eye – it creates a most interesting aura when the house lights are off. Come to think of it, a glass or four of nog might also offer a different view as well!

DSC_0255 Wishing you and yours the most festive of holiday seasons, filled with family, friends and laughter. Keep an eye out for posts in the new year that will focus on new and exciting plants that I manage to unearth in the next month or so. Lots of exciting new releases for the nursery next year!

Although I don't drink, I have to say that warbled photo looks really nice, more like a painting than a photo.

So it's finally winter in the great white north? I hope you stay cozy and warm and have a wonderful Christmas.

Brrrrrrr - it sounds as if you are in the grips of some real winter weather - hope that you are warm and snug indoors looking out at all the white stuff with a glass of nog to hand. Wishing you all the best at Christmas and happy gardening in 2014! xxx
